In the last 3 weeks we have lost 5 yearlings, 1 dead one. No problem there sheep. Another dead and another down flat out. Straight to the vets, managed to pull the one around but she's just walking around the shed bleeting, the other went to Aberystwyth for tests. Come back with big. So went through them with a good trace element. And since another 2 have died. There in good shape and been grazing ground that has had no fert, so what to do now. Been trying to get some blood results off the vets in the morning. Any advice please

1. How did you 'go through them with a good trace element'?

2. CCN not usually a batch problem. More PMs might be needed.

3. Bloods for what?

Went through them and drenched them. The vets took blood off the one that was down. I guess to see if they were too high or low in anything
You can't supplement B1 orally. The condition is caused by a change in diet and the production of enzymes that break down B1. It has to be given by injection.

Unsure what the bloods would show. It's a diagnosis made on clinical signs or post mortem, not bloods.

Well we come to the conclusion that we spread fert will a small amount of sulphur, would this be enough to lock up the colbolt and cause this problem. The vets said it could cost £6 ahead to go though and inject them so we're going to weather the storm
