Shifted x ewes onto a fresh field of grass (loads of grass) and for some reason a few have been eating this stupid plant! Lost one yesterday to it and still the odd one bubbling away!? Going to shift them as a precaution now but why on earth would they do this? Is there berries on them at this time of year? Normally Only ever seen them doing it when they can’t physically get grass.

I'd agree that they only usually eat them if they are really hungry, there's a few rhoddies on our cliffs and even in a bleak January the sheep don't touch them.
Wonder if they are after a certain mineral?

In the Parkland we have fields that border the formal gardens with Rhodies and Laurel, sheep eat that and seem to get away with it, as did the sucklers before.

Jab of metacam and a drench of activated charcoal does the trick if they eaten rhodies.

We had one growing over into a pen when we moved here, and the sheep always loved it when they were penned.
