in Wales there was a farm improvement grant, isn't there the same in England, which can give 40% towards the cost. Put one in with that, and it makes life so much easier, I can't describe how much better it is, don't know why I didn't do it 20 years ago!

we have 400 ewes and growing, unfortunately I'm not eligible for grants, ideally moveable, but once in situ it would stop their over the summer, we rent 70 acres away from the base so something we can leave there.

You need to spend £7500 to get the 40% grant mind and a lot depends on how much they priced a system for a few years ago.

:scratchhead:On the grant scheme referred to, pretty well anyone with a holding number/CRN, farming more than 5ha and with a turnover of less than £1m is eligible.

If you don't want to apply for it for whatever reason, I'd suggest buying something secondhand or make something up with corrugated tin/Stokbord, wire netting & stakes, if you are leaving it on an offlying block. Easily moved and tidy kit has a tendency to walk, even from some quite exposed locations.
