Sheep handling systems

They all have pros and cons---I have a Scotpen which is much more robust than any of the others but its' heavier
Also have a polden vale which is very heavy but good for making holding pens

You get what you pay for----

I am using Bateman hurdles and A race and trailer I made myself its fine in the yard but its not ideal in the field as the legs dig in the grass and can't drag it to tighten up very easy, like the look of the alloy systems for ease of use etc.

We've got a prattley but just priced a rappa. Never used one myself and heard mixed reviews so want to try one before we buy one. Im pretty sure rappa are changing there design to get around unbraked trailer laws. We were advised to wait 12 months for new model.

I have owned a prattley for 12 years and it still looks like newish, pricey yes but over a period of time it looks cheap. Rappa are suppose to be equally at good if not better.

Sorry didn't realise there was another thread on this subject , my only concern with the Rappa is they are miles away from Lincolnshire would they look after you if it was to play up , not Ther there's much to go wrong with them I suppose.

After Rappa got turned over I think they'd move heaven and earth to look after you

I've bought plenty of electric fencing kit from them and their service and back up is excellent

I have dealt with Rappa for many years when they sold prattleys and with there fencing and have always had a great service from them.

We used to have a prattley, loved it. When we changed it we brought a alligator 6 years ago, cheaper than prattley, and I love that.

I agree with Tim W, they all have pros and cons, you get what you pay for.

I tried to buy a Rappa system in the Royal Welsh back in 2012, had chequebook ready in the pocket. Went to the stand and was completely ignored. Asked the salesman and he replied he was busy, he was actually talking about cattle to a farmer, who had no intention of buying anything. Was on the stand for 40 mins, have previously bought the fencing system earlier in the year, spent about a grand then. Got mega pee'd off and bought a Prattley in the end, why buy a copy when you can get the real thing ? Rappa will never have a penny off me ever again.

got a scotpen here love it. wouldn't want to be without it few small issues but can live with them hurdles are brilliant never broke or bent one and its had some hammer. had a few ewes jump out wouldn't like one with lower hurdles. never tried the others but the winch system I just don't like the look of.
