I tried dealing direct with blackknight but wanted more per gate and delivery on top compared to the Mart price. Ended up buying couple hundred BK gates through the Mart cheaper than they wanted. Also bought some from Tom Forrest off Facebook for £20/gate but think his prices are up this year. He’ll deliver anywhere.

Just bought some Bateman 5ft hurdles
£15.50 each for 20+

First impressions, stronger than the IAE ones I already have, esp the loops on the ends
is that pin ones ?

ir some would be a lot better with round bottom corners that don't drag in the ground ...even if there is a bit more chance of them rusting quicker

I was told the other day by a very large IAE supplier that all their hurdles are made in China along with their cheaper End gates.
Not saying there’s anything wrong with em , maybe Batemans are too?

They are. I had a quote for some sheep handling stuff, and was told all the smaller end stuff now made out there. Not to say there is anything wrong with them though, but I do think IAE field gates are pretty light weight now

In regard to field gates, gates are getting lighter but just look which range it is. I think suppliers are dropping down the range to compete on price and minimise price rises. IAE and others make different strength gates so could just be a case of ordering a stronger gate.

I will only buy one sort of field gates now that are stronger and heavier than Bateman and IAE and that is Ritchie. You can tell the difference by just picking them up.

Loop type, I know not ideal, but they are handy to have a stack of.

I’ll stand corrected but I’ll be surprised if they are, I checked both out and was hard to tell them apart.

The loop on the IAE is a piece of thin strap welded both sides of the end vertical on the hurdle, the loops break a weld one side quite easily.

On the Bateman the loop is a whole piece of box section welded on.
So the loop it's self would seem stronger.......can't speak for the welds mind!

Made my own wooden 4’ 6” hurdles for £5 in materials. Would be easy enough to screw some eyes in so you could use pins.

Same price I paid for a pack (25) of 4ft loop hurdles last year...

I believe they are IAE, but came completely unbranded from Smith's Fencing. Solid built and I'm very happy with them compared to the 20yr old ones they replaced. They are only really used at lambing, so don't get much abuse.
