So what’s everyone using to keep codd and foot rot at bay in your ewes. I’m regularly foot bathing with provita.
I agree with all that, I have just gone through my second massive codd outbreak in 4 years on a 3 month housed flock of of 500 ewes, its a bloody nightmare but amazing just goes one day after months of frustration. Very few older ewes went lame it was mostly yearling to 4 year old's, so can they build up a resistance to it?Two very different treatments for both.
Oxytet in whatever form you like for footrot and formalin foot bath and cull,
Codd won’t get touched by either so
Betamox la twice if it’s a few or draxxin if not responding. If a major outbreak licospectin powder in foot bath. If any severe then I find a mastitis tube on the affected foot and vet wrap then remove on day 3 works well.
Lambs are my bigger problem with codd and keeping on top of scald with formalin bath helps as the scald lets the codd in.
mother thing to say is if you are foot trimming then dip the pliers in disinfectant between ewes or you are just spreading it around.
Main thing is getting the codd ones away from the rest fast.
Wouldn’t wish codd on anyone
What time of the year do you find it best to footvax?Footvax’ed everything for 15 years, trim 1/100 in a year if that. Alamycin LA is best jab for footrot without going for the expensive ones.
Formalin footbath.
