We’re finally going too put up the feed store shed we’ve had planned for years. Sheep aren’t financing it totally by a long way but they have left a nice bit extra that can go towards it! The profit I was expecting from them is being squirrelled away until next August when I’m expecting too have too spend a small fortune too buy significantly less stores than I did this year! 😳

As already said , this big lift has only really benefited the store men ,except the odd few killer ewes and sort outs from keeper ewe lambs , I will only get excited if it feeds though to breeding prices , which i highly doubt . Any lift in recent prices are already being swallowed by higher feed and fert prices so breeders could already be worse off . Add in the reductions in BSP coming and still not looking very rosy ,
Personally will be reducing my flock for higher quality less work option .We all know deep down be back to normal at some point

All it means is the ones that die make you more depressed , as they are worth something now !!:D

Most sheep farmers in this area haven't gained hugely from the price rise, as this area tends to sell all the lambs as stores to keep Natural England and the winter bird life happy. It's the lamb finishers that have made the profit.

Hopefully they realise that in the autumn when they are buying some again.

It’s noticeable how much more petrol for the bike is costing this spring than last year’s lockdown prices..
I know proper sheep farmers have a diesel gator (or so it would appear!)but can’t quite stretch to one of them here!
