anyone have some thoughts or experience with sheep recording software, I have a small pedigree flock and I am looking to record all the statutory stuff and also the family trees, for use with a mobile would also be handy.

I built my own farm record keeping 'app' using google forms. Free, and and mobile/desktop friendly.
That sounds very tecnical, I have toyed with excel sheets but I have limited ability's, It sounds as though one may need a bit of software knowledge to build that?

I've been using Shearwell Farmworks on a Psion for over a decade, for pedigree and commercial flocks and it will do everything you want, apart from being on a mobile. From demos of Border Software's program I've had, it will do just the same, also on a Psion. Both will supply demos foc, so you can have a play with the programs and see what you think.

The Psion isn't cheap, but is practically indestructible IMO, and equally at home mounted on a weigh crate in a dry shed as it is bouncing round in the lambing box on the front of a quad in the rain.

Hi Thanks for the link, I will have a good look at it when I get 5 mins, is it a free-bee or subscription, It is possible to do family trees?

Hi,

Great, if you have any questions just let us know. You can download the free app and have a play about but once you add more that 10 animals you need to sign up to a 30 day trail or to a plan. See details here >>>> Pricing.

Yes it's more expensive than pen & paper before somebody says it! :nailbiting:.

Thanks

In my view it's easy. If you aren't comfortable with Excel, then perhaps an off the shelf package would suit you better.
