Sheep shed

After yet another shite winter I’m sick to the back teeth of wet Croft’s and trudging through mud to feed sheep. Lost one in a river too last night which tbh I just find funny now rather than upset as wtf can you do!

Looking to build a small shed, will be about 32sq meters inside. Will be block on flat up to waste height and then sheeted.

Am I best to Concrete the floor or compacted stone? What will be cheaper for straw use?

I’m hoping to house my twins from beginning of March to end of April and put outside to lamb. Any problems atleast they can go back in. How many lleyn ewes would this carry?

I’m a bricklayer myself so labour will be cheap. The north facing side will be left open.

No farmer ever regretted building shed and concrete ing the floor, Do it ! Far more useable and pleasant when sheep not in as well .

If i could build a bigger one i could, i should of added one side is an old stone shed that we have, im just putting a lean to off of that, so will be 8 metres long like that and 4-5m wide. Id be putting up a 100sqm shed if i had the land and money

Easy for me to say when I'm not paying the bills, but you should go bigger than that. We have sheep inside, floor is just sand with straw on top, works well, wouldn't concrete it.

Also, you can get a 60% CAGS grant for this.

Would actually look at slats if you were hoping to have sheep in for any length of time. One of the lads on here over in Ireland /Northern Ireland has slats/mesh, looks the business.

should of said:

not my land (sister is letting me build it) so no grant available for me, also i dont have any machinery and wont be getting any as i couldnt justify it. so no point going massive.

I think ill be aswell concreting it, be easier to clean out i suppose and i could use it as a pen too.

What's the likelihood of you and your sister falling out. Think I'd be using panels and a dirt floor

How about a couple of shipping containers with hardcore & a roof between them? Means should things change they can easily be removed

Example below maybe a tad excessive but you get my drift!

Planning kicks in when you can't comply with Part 6 of the GPDO so it doesn't fall under Permitted Development.
Even under Permitted Development you need to apply to the council under what is known as Prior Approval.
Googled that , my life has not enough left to read all that 😂 my tactic will be the easy way out employ someone who knows how to read 😂 when the time comes .
