Sheep trailer make

On a turnover of £92.43million with a debt ratio of 43%.

638 employees to keep busy.

I'd rather be Mr Gamic than Mr Williams.

I'm leaving it there.

What do I know when speaking with a farmer

Based on that volume I'd expect them to make any UK farmer his trailer at the price expectation and have change for a rivet gun and rivets

Good luck to both of them I say. IW very popular with German cattle breeders too

I do like Dan at Gamic and Neville at Porter Castledergh and as a peasant cow keeper know where I shall place my hard earned

It’s not fact at all it’s just your opinion, many farmers are good businessmen and would be in any other sector.
Who mentioned reducing the price is an inevitable result of building more trailers? You mentioned Mercedes earlier on, a very large scale business that still prices its cars at a premium whilst producing at volume.
All it would mean is their would be more Gamic trailers at the local auction at the expense of other breeds as by all accounts their product is very good. Many farmers already said on here they would like a Gamic but cannot wait over a year but what would us farmers know about business.

Stop talking in riddles

You said you nearly drove off the road with shock about the price of a Houghton hence the Merc and other marques analogy

I do realise farmers can be good businessmen

Plenty of farmers want a new Defender replacement (and maybe Ineos will get close) but it's been proven the international motor industry doesn't believe it is sustainable to supply one at £17k like the last one was list price

There is a price competition around the IWT / Nugent market.

It's simple really. If you want one at that price buy one. If you want something else go to the market and see what's available in price and time horizons

Me too to be honest?
but I don’t like the constant insinuation that farmers in general are poor businessmen but I will leave it also.
It wasn't constant (from me anyway)

What I said was that only a farmer could write he wants something better but at a lower price and to get to that point someone needs to make more (not you but stated by Starting handle)

You just stated that only a farmer would say that clearly insinuating that a normal good businessman would think nothing of the sort then stated it to be fact rather than your opinion and you accuse me of talking in riddles.
Startin handle never mentioned price just wondered why gamic couldn’t increase production.

If potato growers operated like Gamic, and kept consumers slightly hungry for their product, they would be much better off than trying to produce ever more tons at a barely profitable price.

If you draw that inference frankly that's your problem. I happen to be a farmer too

I stated why would anyone increase volume and their costs if they don't want to

Good analogy but realistically the Consumer would just buy from another source assuming one was available. You need to be very confident you have a unique product ( or real shortage ) to restrict supply nowadays as there are many other products available to fill the gap worldwide.

All true. I guess that's exactly what each trailer manufacturer is doing right now

Swapping like for like? I’ve got a coming up 3 year old nugent 12’ twin axle and I’m thinking of going for a 14’ triple axle. I can’t pull the 12’ twin across fields In the winter so may as well have a 14 for that job.

95% of my movements are within 5 mile though. I get lorries in to do all distance and bulk work.
Yes like for like. It would be interesting to see what swapping the 12ft like for like would cost.
I have no problems with my Ifor. It does the job. Hasn’t fallen to bits. Still looks nearly new. Sheep only mind.
wouldnt bother with third axle if only sheep. Adds another 150kg. Living 3 miles from a ministry weigh bridge means I probably think about weight more than most.

I actually agree with both you and @JP1
A few decades ago, there were a lot of very good farmers but there many who weren't good 'at business'.
These days, you've got to be pretty good at business to be still going although it could be argued that real business people would slipper farm.
As an industry, agriculture is crap at business.
We buy retail and sell wholesale.
We sell in a 'free market' but buy in controlled markets.
We have a union that refuses to ever bare teeth.
We've lost almost all control of our sales.
When profits are squeezed we increase output to maintain an income.

Back on topic, I will now post something about trailers

Can’t disagree with anything you say but it’s a worldwide farming problem I am afraid, certainly beyond the control of individual farmers as sadly we don’t work together as we are all seperate businesses, doesn’t mean the individuals aren’t good businessmen just merely hampered by the “ system”.
Anyway let’s get back to slagging off Ifor trailers?

Leave it where it is and get a bulk deal on 3 Ifors and make a road train :D
I was looking what I paid for my Stewart box 8 years ago, 22foot hydraulic decks was 6k plus my old Lagan ( got 6 for that). We just swapped the container as the Herbst trailer underneath was still like new, looks cheap now as it was a game changer when it come.
My Gamic looks cheap now at under 9k .........if it ever comes?
