I think it might be better if the paperwork showed that you delivered the tup first and picked up the other two afterwards.

yes drop off is first.

struggling with transport regs on defra website and tickets I need.

might be more hassle than it’s worth.

Type 1 authorisation for journeys over 65km and under 8 hours- get it through local authority, relatively easy just fill a form in.

Certificate of competence also needed for over 65km journeys up to 8 hours. I did mine through duchy college, read the booklet and then multiple choice test on computer. I did cattle and sheep, the test is species specific.

You will need the same AML1 form for your delivery (to Shropshire?) as you would to take lambs to market. As above, you should have a certificate of competence (most people will have done it years ago & forgotten about it since?) for transporting more than 65km but less than 8 hours. There is a place to write that certificate number on the AML1, but I have never bothered filling it in, or ever seen anyone else do so.

To move the sheep back from Welshpool to Devon, you will need another AML1 completed the same, from the departure holding. Assuming that holding is in Wales (the border isn’t far from Welshpool) it will be a Welsh AML1, which is slightly different in layout but with exactly the same details. It couldn’t possibly be the same as EID Cymru have to justify their existence.?

No different than going to and from your local mart with stock really.:)

Yeah it’s the certificate I was interested in. I’ve never seen the details filled in and I don’t have a very in my name.

is it policed in anyway?

I did mine with the NFU when they first came in, along with most other people in the area. I have always carried a photocopy of the certificate in an envelope in the bottom of my glove box ‘just in case’, but have never been asked to show it, even when stopped by plod, VOSA, etc.

I guess the problem would come if you were prosecuted and could show you were competent in transporting animals?

When you send the AML1 to ARAMS for that with the stated transport time, postcodes etc, I bet you open yourself up if you don't fill in your transport authorisation number

I thought everyone had done their Type 1 certificate of competence, it's only a multiple choice paper with a low pass threshold and anyone can get one. Then just apply to your local County council for a transporter number

I have never, ever, filled in my certificate number on the AML1, nor have I ever seen anyone picking up rams from here filling it in. I have never been queried on it, either by trading standards, Eid Cymru or during several paperwork inspections that I’ve endured in recent years, nor have 8 heard of anyone else being queried on it.

What is a County Council ‘transporter number’? Presumably something needed for commercial hauliers, certainly not needed for farmers moving their own livestock.

How far have you travelled?

Go over 65km and you need a CoC for yourself and a transporter number renewable very 5 years.

Hauliers and farmers are both treated as commercial and have to have the same

As often as not between 65km and 8 hours. Can you provide a link to the requirement for a ‘transporter number’ please, as I’ve never heard of it for farmers moving their own stock? Maybe I’ve been breaking the law for most of my adult life?
