Sheep withdrawal after fert spreading

I don't think there would be a problem putting them back into the field right away although I'd be tempted to wait three or four days for the prills to dissolve, this is where a shower of rain will help. The grass can't convert the nitrate to quickly so it may seem bitter to the animals for a day or two.

I saw some being spread with the sheep still in the field today... not saying that's exactly best practice but they didn't appear overly bothered, which surprised me given how our sheep normally are!

ummmm inch of rain for P ferts and max growth 3-4 weeks after N fert put on grass grows grass so short grass will not fully respond to N ferts if grazed ..if yer been doing that yer been wasteing money

never taken them out before in my lifetime. I wonder if thats where i've been going wrong all these years. How many people can take them out put them elswhere in a week every field we have will have sheep in.
Well don't tell trading standards that when they visit, there has to be a withdrawal period but she didn't say how long, just to google it which hasn't come up with a great deal of information

I've never seen mention of an official withdrawal period from fert, and have spread it in fields as long as the lambs are big enough to run from the tractor. Are you sure she wasn't just winging it. As she's raised the subject, I'd be inclined to ask her advice on a suitable withdrawal period, preferably in writing. I've always found that most inspectors like being asked for advice.;) Whether you take it or not is a different matter.

Wondered about this earlier today. Spread some double top on grass fields a week ago and young lambs put in 24 hours later. No rain but heavy dews.

Seeing a few lambs with strip needing a squirt of magic spray now.

I always find they wont commit to anything when it comes down to it they usually don't know too much the usual line is ask you agronomist or vet etc

she said google it which didn't bring up a definitive answer. there is no information on a bag, not like there would be on a can of spray, best answer I think is to say when it's washed in regardless of what you do, tell them what they want to hear. has anybody had this come up on a farm assurance visit? It comes under the feeds directive.

It's hard to let it go 4-5 weeks as you can't put N on too early in the season and ewes are on parks for lambing.

Most of our fert is being spread now, and most ewes are in ready for lambing too.
