Shepherds huts

Anyone using these for glamping. We are looking into two of them for an orchard location, seems to be plenty of manufacturers. Interested in your experiences of trailer spec and punters enthusiasm for them.

Have you started ?? be keen to see how you get on

I've got most of the parts but I'm missing one wheel! I'm looking around for another (not genuine shepherds hut one though using three from old old spud planter). Got all the wood, zinc and rockwool and window made up.

They really seem to have taken off over the last year, I used to supply two maybe three roofs a year for shepherds huts, but over the last year I would say 5 to 10 enquires a month, with the majority of the enquires turning into orders for a nice new shiny roof.

How much roughly is the roof? I've not priced that up yet. I'm using old and knackered tin on the sides painted up to give it shabby chic effect as some of the new ones look a bit anodyne.

Really does depend on the size as no-one seems to run a "standard" size and the sheet finish as some people like to go for 275g Galvanized, where others prefer to go with a pvc plastisol coated as it lasts longer and is pre coloured, but as an average I would say around the £300 mark. We also supply flat sheets in the same finish colour which tends to be quite popular, for doors and walls.

We've got an old Farris hut that needs a new set of roofsheets so I might have to get measuring. Mrs Fred thinks it would be a good extension to the holiday cottage if we parked it nearby so the kids could stay in it or they could use it for an extra bedroom. You see quite a few new shepherds' huts at the shows nowadays,
I think the wheels sometimes let them down, as small or rubber tyred ones don't look quite right, even if they are more practical :)

If you have a measure up and come back to me i will be happy to quote you.

For a standard Galvanized roof we will use a 10/3 coil which is 275g Galvanized so a full prime coating.

I have attached a PDF curved roof template showing the measurements we require.

Kind regards

Ashley Small
