Sherwin Williams Stoneleigh Gray paint code for MF135

Most searches including this (http://fergusontractors.org/nfs/wp-content/uploads/paint/Paint-Color-Numbers.pdf) will tell you that it is 50523 but it isn’t, it’s way too dark, it is much like the “charcoal gray” they use on newer Massey’s.

I am having trouble finding the appropriate match, anybody know what the best paint code would be? I’m wondering about maybe just going with Ferguson Flint Gray.

If you have a sample of the correct colour then just take the part to the paint factors and they will mix it for you, normally spot on. Nearly every one I have seen has been different

Unfortunately I don’t have a sample :( but I’ll just try to find a comparable colour.

Stoneleigh grey should be available from any of the vintage tractor parts suppliers, but if you are struggling to find it why not try Land Rover grey. I partially resprayed a grey Land Rover with stoneleigh grey (already had some on the shelf), and I could not tell the difference.

I’m not sure which specific LandRover grey that would be but I spoke to my local MF dealer and he said it’s Flint Metallic Gray that I am looking for. So will try that.

If your 135 is a UK built tractor it would have been painted with Stoneleigh grey originally. Flint grey was never used on 100 series tractors as far as I know. French built tractors were painted with a metallic style paint, but it was more of a silver grey. I would imagine your MF dealer has never seen a 100 series tractor, or has a pallet full of flint grey paint he wants to shift.
Have you tried any of the vintage tractor parts suppliers such as Agriline, Old 20 parts co. Emmark etc. I would assume any of them could supply you with Stoneleigh grey.

He’s not the one selling me the paint, he was just going by what it was showing on a chart he had. He seemed to be very familiar with the 135’s, they were a very common tractor around here. I’m in Canada and the only “stoneleigh grey” I can find is almost black, which I don’t want, so at this point I’m just gonna find something that will look decent. It will be sitting in a barn 360 days a year lol.

It’s weird because I took the seat off to a part that “wouldn’t be exposed to elements” and it definitely is flint Metallica gray with a darker grey underneath as a primer. It is definitely a UK tractor (by serial number and design confirmed) but must’ve had a batch of them made with the FMG in 1970. My Dad has been using that tractor since 1977 and doesn’t recall a “dark grey” but I don’t want to paint the chassis FMG as it seems “too much”. Even if it were, seemingly original. Maybe some of the ones that got sent to Canada got special schemes lol.
