SHOCKED

I have Just received an invoice for a Disc arm including hub (genuine) for a Vaderstad Topdown For £333 (£308 after discount) and seen on a Site a whole kit advertised for £88.50, the Question is are genuine bits worth that much more? my fault for not asking price...

Yes I’m affraid it’s your fault.you can allways send it back and buy the cheaper part and save a packet.i think most of us are guilty of ordering bits when we are busy and not asking the price.dont beat yourself up over it.sh!t happens

In the case of a Vaderstad, maybe. Made in Sweden with graded materials on factory equipment with high quality bearings in the hub.

Then again, it's only a disc arm.....

All depends how desperate you are , broke a twine arm on the baler , prices started at £500 , got one for £88 in the end . but there was no rush

Conditioner belts went on the mower , genuine lely belt £178 for 4 , same belt on ebay £5.75 .

Is it the same though, a lot of cheap belts are like elastic bands after a few hours.

I don't really understand why anyone would be shocked that a genuine part is significantly dearer than spurious.
In 15 years mending and trading machinery I think I've only ever had to use a main dealer for parts 5 or 6 times. I consider them the final option rather than the first one

If someone charges an unrealistic price, I've heard the thing to do is deposit a reasonable sum in court (which indicates you are willing to pay) and invite them to sue for the balance. I've never done it but it does sound an attractive idea! The supplier then has to justify his price and if the judgement is in your favour, you can tell the world what a cheating b***** he is without risking a defamation suit!

Thirty years or so ago, I went to my local agricultural supplier for a couple of gate hooks to hang a field gate on. They said they didn't have any but could make some for me, so I said go ahead. I got the hooks, then the bill -- for 2.5 hours of welding time, three feet of plain rod and three feet of threaded rod, total cost about ten times what it ought to have cost me! As one of the directors was a JP I thought it unwise to try the above, but it was very very tempting!

I recently purchased a Lambda sensor for £19.95, from a dealer it was £208 makes me wonder how much were we getting ripped off before the Internet?

Ive twice made huge savings on bits for my pick up, dealer said I couldn't get the uj for rear prop so needed a full ne one at 2k, ordered a uj for £19, next time needed switches for transfer box, dealer £250 ish each and theres 3, rs components £10 for 5
