Shooting rights form (Scotland)

Do other countries have this i.e. England Wales and NI? Name, Address, type of land, how the shooting rights are exercised and by whom, Bags 2012-2015, Birds released etc.....

First I have heard of this was when I opened it. What a load of complete and utter rubbish. It is simply the jealous urban elite (read SNP) using their broad brush to have a go at the toffs while taxing all registered landowners.

I don't shoot, we are a demilitarised zone with an SSSI and a Special Protected Area (whatever that is) I have no interest (Vermin excepted) but because I own land I am expected to pay a tax to satisfy a left wing government focused on independence and kicking what wealth we have out of the country.

We used to have it apparently but it fell by the wayside due to it not being worth very much to the country and cost of collection. Rant over!

Yes got 4 envelopes through the post yesterday some just for seasonal let land. Nfus agm on Thursday so going to ask about it before filling it in. Seems like an expensive administrative headache to me.
Police know who had right to shoot on our land so that's easy.
I really don't know what this is trying to achieve.

There was a thread on this a few weeks ago.Land rented out for shooting has lost its VAT exemption. If you let land out for shooting you'll have to start charging VAT.I think that's why this information is being gathered.Perfectly reasonably,in my opinion.

It will be an SNP tax by the back door.

Once they know how many days shooting you host, or how many birds you put down, or how many days stalking you let out, they can calculate some sort of rate for you to pay.

The forms were initially sent out to Estates, but they got no response from them (a cynic could believe an organised ignore it and it'll go away).

Forms are now being sent to individual farms in the hope that they get a response, even if it is an irate, we're tenants, the Laird has the shooting. That way they'll find out where shooting occurs.

Whether or not you agree with the way this shooting taxation information is being collated, the fact remains that if you're running a business, the government taxes you.

Unless, that is, you're really big, or part of the elite like the new duke of Westminster that inherits over £9 billion, but doesn't pay a penny in tax.

The laird's factor will just demand more rent from the farming tenants to pay the laird's shooting tax anyway.

We have got ours about £150 business rates per year for 200 acre farm. No one has had a gun on our farm in over 20 years.

Received ours at £1200 for 760 acres, though - with the exception of vermin - no shooting of game takes place. Has bugger all to do with a sporting tax, just a land tax by another name.

£ 550 for 300 acre. Zero shooting, no woods ! SNP urbanites at their best ( worst ) !
They can shove it !(n)

Why are you getting rates bills if there's no game "sport" shooting over your land?

Have the civil servants ignored your form return that told them of no sporting shoot, or did you ignore the form that was supposed to be filled out a year ago?

It seems to be based on acreage, they got details from sgrpid I understand.
Think there will be an exemption for any data under 15k.very dangerous precedent though and yet more red tape and admin.
Know of someone who has been billed £2500

If they had to get the info from sordid sgrpid, was this because the forms they sent out weren't returned?

I did reply, phoned some beaurocrat, and emailed a Bps field map of the farm to him . Should maybe have ignored it, but such is life!

I sent mine back too.

Wrote in big letters across it to the effect that I was a tenant farmer on a shooting estate, so they should chase the laird and leave me alone.

So far, so good.

Not received mine yet but they can shove it.
Got core paths and right to roamers all over the place now. No way you could safely have a shoot or guns on it these days.

All part of the SNP totalitarian state.
Told John Swinney that felt like what they were creating at a dinner a few years back. He just smiled at me.
