Short discs

We need to re-disc our 3m Amazone Catros really happy with it, does a lovely job and really like that the discs pull out when in work, compared to more fixed width machines.

How are people finding the Pro-forge offerings @nick... how do you like yours, what width, have you got a 66 or just the 77?

Don't think want to go trailer drill is bad enough on the hills! Would be nice to go a little wider maybe 4/4.5m, but then I can easily 9 mph plus up and down.

Get on great with mine.alot of ploughed land woukd not have been drilled without using discs to cut up the baked hard ground to allow it to dry.im still amazed at the job they do.my 7710 copes well with 5metres on ploughed ground and stubble.can pull them with the 6620 on stubble but it aint man enough on ploughed land.do take a bit of setting up though.very underated tool in my opinion

Thanks Nick what sort of speeds would your 66 pull them? I reckon our 150hp would be slightly more than that, we don't need it for ploughing just a pass with triple k type cultivator is all we need.
My boss does like the dung and line incorporated well so would be only time we work deeper.

What do you mean by setting up is it lots of combination of holes the Catros is very easy to set up big pin into various slots sets the discs and turnbuckle for the packer.

We bought a new rolex, Polish make. a 4 meter hydraulic folding is 8 grand. Very well made,
That is very good value I'd imagine our 4 year old discs wouldn't be far off being worth that.

Following with interest, been looking for an Simba XPress 5.5m, but the prices are a bit steep for a used machine. Bit concerned with the closeness of the rows of discs on the Proforge when I went to @AgriLinc and had a look, seems to be a wider gap on the Simba offering ;)
Could be persuaded with a demo though if it works ok

My 6620 would probably manage 5mph on stubble and less on ploughed ground, that's on 20.8 tyres.no dual wheels.7710 will romp along at 9/10mph on stubble and easily 7mph on the ploughed ground.coukd go faster but like my arse to stay on the seat.as for setting there are multitude of holes for the packer and can run it with all the weight on it or let it float and have the front discs cut in deeper than the rear or vise versa.get a demo of @AgriLinc

We're all drilled up:smug: so nowhere to try them plus be fair way to come for a demo!

If you wanted to PM us your post code, I could see where the nearest one we've got any sold near you already you might be able to see working?
As you will be able to see from the map below, we're steady getting machines into most areas of the UK now! (y)

Alternatively if you fancied a ride up we've got a set aside field here we could run a set on for you?

I'd also like to sing the Invertas praises. I took delivery of my 5m trailed model in March. A versatile, well designed and equally well built machine easily capable of living with some of its more expensively priced competitors. Put it to work both in stubbles and ploughed/rolled medium to heavy land and makes an impressive job of either. Doesn't need huge horsepower to pull it and can cover the ground quickly. Get a demo, see for yourself.

Looking at pictures of a invertamax it looks like you can sideshift the second row of discs for shallow working.

@AgriLinc is this possible on the inverta too?

Just curious, what the perceived hp requirement difference between a set of 5.5m v pattern discs pulling a single press to a 5.5m short disc set up e.g xpress/inverta etc ?

Less surely? You aren't going to get a short disc in as deep as a heavy old set of simbas/parmiters etc.....

I was assuming less, just pondering, as a set of old style discs are 1/2 the price of a short disc and seem to be keeping the old simba's at a nice shallow depth ok, but really need to go wider, but don't want to go and get something I can't pull. :)
