Rob Jones, Hawk, Trevor Rowland, MP Hire are some of the main nationals to try. I'm sure Farols & other local dealers will have something too.

Not hired one this year as we took the plunge and upgraded the old standby. Over the years have had first class service and assistance from frank rowlands .One year a while ago clutch problems on the hired in ford on a friday afternoon in late september when in full swing , rang frank in a panic and was told they would be out to see tommorrow saturday if they could 100 miles away( oh yeah thought I). Come the morning went outside round the buildings at 8.ooam and low and behold van on site tractor 1/2 split and by 11 am was back in the field with a new clutch ,now thats service and would be my first and only port of call

A bad grass weed problem will cost you 100x that if contact herbicides don't work any more. You could also spend 10x that on slug pellets in a loose seedbed. False economy IMO but worth thinking about :)

If the grass weeds are that bad he shouldn’t be drilling till then anyway.....

To save making a load of calls to dealers, what kind of monthly cost would I expect to be charged to hire a 120 hp tractor for rolling for a month?

Get the person that does the rolling to do it at night with the drilling tractor(y)

Would the tractor dealer you buy from have a trade in you could hire by the clock hour? Doesn't need to be flash for rolling does it?

These prices look cheap when a muck spreaders costs more per day

A muck spreader is probably like a motorhome in that respect.

A basic mid-power tractor is probably the sort of thing that has a fairly steady demand, so as suggested elsewhere a dealer can probably hire the odd trade-in or even keep a few knocking around.

A muck spreader and a motorhome aren't much good for most of the year though, and when you want to hire one you're probably in a queue of lots of people who want to hire one.
