2 Load of corn was sent off to a mill with no weigh bridge.
identical wagons and trailers from same firm
one load 29.3t
one load 26.8t
weighed off with weighload in yard said 29.3 and 29t when asked
idenctical buckets in each ( counted on cctv )
Weight ticket had no detail on it, and is out of time frame for journey. When asked for a copy. But has since been filled in!
where would you start, to sort problem? As I am not happy

Trading Standards
Even if you don't get far it will put the frighteners on the perpetrators.
We have our own weighbridge and a local store still owes me for half a tonne of OSR, but I kicked up a big stink so they might think twice next time.
I won a similar case with fertiliser though.

Your point about fertiliser struck a chord with me, farm I know of weighs everything over their own weighbridge, in or out it gets weighed, including fertiliser in bags.

Would weighing grain be legally weighed by this system. trading standards should be your second port of call. I’d go to the manager and bring to his attention that your getting shafted and want it sorted before the sh1t hits the fan. Your probably not the only one being shorted.

Place i go contracting at is the same weighs everything… when he first put his weigh bridge in a feed firm was 4 ton short on his corn delivery! And there excuse was the weigh bridge was too much of a detour and would make a mess of the driving time so they used the wagons built in scale 🤦‍♂️

I have a 4 tonne feed bin and ordered 6 tonne and told the firm to ring before so I could bucket 2 tonne out of the bottom as the blew in, no one rang and when I got back the yard just the bin was full but none anywhere else, I couldn't hold of anyone as it was Friday night. Monday morning rang up and kicked up a fuss, turn out that I was a contractor they used who had his own farm and must have been using any opportunity to feed his own stock!

This mill buys and sells everything without weighing?

I remember reading an article years ago in the Farmers Weekly about a farm weighbridge, might have been on there own farm, and they said it paid for itself quite quickly as they weighed the fertiliser deliveries in.
I can remember getting a weight ticket from a fertilizer delivery of an artic load. It was imported AN in half ton bags. Should have been 25 tons but each bag must have been short a small amount as i was only charged for 24 point something. ive delivered grain to many small farms over the years out here and being straight with the customer is easier than trying to screw them. Most towns have public scales with photographically visible weights with time and date. Makes everyone more comfortable when you forward them the pictures.
