Shortage of good staff

I am currently looking for a GFW and only had one reply from a lad living an hour away so not a realistic option. Not even had the usual knob heads enquiring through my Facebook add.
We tried Facebook a few yrs ago ,only to find they would ring up to make contact then all by text to show the dole office they were looking for work. Then wouldnt turn up for interview Tw2ts !

Just for comparison. If you drove a container wagon ( yes it’s beneath you and you don’t generally murder prostitues )for those hours you would be on £60k but you’d be away 4 nights a week and would have to sleep in your cab… it’s all relative. Do you enjoy your job?
If I didn’t enjoy it then I’d struggle to find the motivation to drag myself in as often as I do I guess

I'v driven a container wagon. And an oil tanker. And a curtainsider. And a fridge.

It's certainly not beneath me. But f**k sleeping in a cab. I've done 2 nights out in 16 years, and that's 2 too many!

1. Offer a tidy and modern mobile home on site for people to sleep/live in over the harvest period.

We've had a look at this and came to the conclusion that the site would just be too noisy and busy for people to sleep in a caravan (day or night).

Our location is great for what we do, but there is very poor public transport access and next to nothing within walking distance for someone living on site all Summer.

Wow, you should take a look at the real world, where many companies value their staff, no wonder agriculture is short of workers.
Not condoning it, just saying it as I see it. Wages countrywide in too many industries are too low but that's what unprecedented inflation does for you.

Thread needs to be retitled "Shortage of people willing to work stupid hours in a dead end job, for for a few pennies more than minimum wage, with a boss that thinks you should be grateful for anything you get and who longs for a return to Victorian times as the Workhouse sorted out the shirkers, but wants to keep their taxpayer funded free money"
