Shortage of straw!

A bit different when renewable energy relies on stuff that just "renews":
Hydro
Wind
Tide
Solar

Once it involves "byproducts" then it is the tip of a clusterfudge IMO

--- Feed gorse into the things, it is biomass, bet it takes less energy to produce a ton of dry gorse than a ton of dry straw - when all the gorse is gone, make a "dynamic assessment" FFS
none of them are renewable if you take the long view
You must get things into perspective
Energy cannot be made or destroyed it can be changed or "lost"
Is any energy source infinitely renewable

Look at it this way I have diesel in the tractor when it runs low there is more in the tank when that runs low we get some more. Been doing this for years a perfectly renewable energy source

By comparison to how long the sun will live?

Getting deep now, @Henarar

The way I view it all this energy coming from the sun is continuous and without it we won't need energy in our wall sockets for long.
But burning up all the stored stuff instead of using to our best advantage the stuff that is just arriving, is a pretty short-sighted way of doing it.
In that context growing plants is extremely renewable, solar capture and all, but when it takes urea and diesel and oil to haul it all around and grow it then it soon goes back the other way, that energy is just heating up the atmosphere and making the future look a shitter place to live, so maybe not the smartest way to do it.

I am a hard man to impress sometimes.

One thing I am really grateful for are the big hydro dams we have, a lot of NIMBYism went on but at least they are full of big trout to catch AND give us 230v running electrick like a proper country
trouble is over here folk get arsey if you flood them out
I wanted to build a dam in our field but the idea was not gratefully received, I can't see why it would have only flooded other folks land and if I had worked it right I could have made a fortune charging for tipping to make the dam
I honestly couldn't see the problem it would have only meant a few houses got a bit wet
some folks they just won't see the greater good will they

If solar is truly viable, how come last year on holiday in Greece, and the year before in Croatia, where they have far more sunshine, I barely saw a solar panel, and no solar farms?

Are the English only getting high straw prices now? Straw was being brought here at the back end for £200/t.

Talking to a couple of guys this week. They say 8x4x3's are now coming in, if you can get someone to supply, at £100 a bale.

A thing of beauty the aqueducts are now!
Some salmon farms in them too is there not?
