I have bought an old shotblaster to do some trailers etc.

Can I get some advice on what PPE I need. Obviously a hood and suit of some sort. Does the hood need to be air fed?

Any tips or links to equipment would be great.

Any work tips would be great too

Thanks Kenny

you definitely need an air fed helmet I have a scorpion which woes the cheapest
had it 10 years or so but wish I had got a nover instead I do a fear bit of blasting and got the scorpion when I first started as I did not now what to get so got the cheapest nothing wrong with it its just a bit heavy when you are in it for a day
YOU MUST GET BRETHING AIR FILTERS FOR IT not cheap but a must .Descent per of heavy overalls will be fine and a per of welding gloves the compressor needs to be 180cfm @100psi is the minimum but more is beater

I also have the scorpion helmet but I’m only doing bits and pieces so is more than adequate for what I’m doing.
I got it from these guys about ten years ago -

http://blastclean.info/products/clothing.html

They do a kit including the filter unit and hoses etc for £480 +vat, it could be available cheaper on eBay if you do a bit of searching.

Get plenty of tare off visor protectors and make sure you don’t pull the last one off so as not to damage the visor.

Other than the helmet as others have said, just decent overalls and welding gloves will be fine.
