Motorcycle Trials are still going

Cleveland National on tomorrow on North York Moors around Castleton

A few hundred Spectators (at most) dotted around on the Moors should be fine - 8’ apart of course

One thing Is the scorers use a punchcard system where the rider gets his score entered on a card around his/her neck

Scorers are reverting back to a score board system, to avoid personal contact

ACU have can all motorcycle competition

All valid points, but with the poss exception of the loo, all easily addressed, no food van, no prize giving, competitors to wait in their transport while prize cards are placed on relevant plots, trophys can then be collected.
If people want to stand close together thats their problem, not the organisers.
Your not getting the point :banghead: :banghead: , if Whitchurch YFC had gone ahead with 150 + competitors, joe public would have been driving bye on a busy main road, it would then have been on Facebook, headline hundreds of ploughmen having a jolly while rest of the country is on shutdown, not good so for next few months we have to accept that we won't be ploughing, nobody's going to miss it more than i am:cry::cry:

An irresponsible quote at best Harry which will in a short while be totally unnecessary as it will all be totally out of our hands. Ploughing matches are no longer local matches. People travel hundreds of miles to them, especially at this time of year.
Records of our Ploughing Society indicate a break in the history at wartime when ‘large gatherings’ were suspended. Judging by the increases in infection rates and deaths then large gathering may well soon be redifined.
Most other social events have been curtailed. Why should we be any different.

Just seen that in Denmark ‘large group’ has been redefined as being more than 10 people.
Being on the cusp of the older generation then I would hate to be responsible for infecting others, similarly would hate to be infected by somebody else’s irresponsibility.

What we are discussing here is a ploughing match. There are no financial consequences. People need to get a grip. Many sports clubs will suffer dire financial consequences - some will go out of business. Whilst on about financial consequences then the government should take steps to curb returns to some of the big financial institutions greedily raking in interest while other lesser mortals don’t know where the next few bob are coming from.

Judging by the lack of essentials in supermarkets, the greater probability is that fuel shortages will follow. Might well be best to conserve what you have in your tank rather than going 150 miles to a ploughing match.

Dont think there will be a fuel shortage, most people only have the tanks in their vehicles, and its illegal to store much in cans. Wont be space to put it indoors, house is full of pasta a bog rolls!

One of the most elegant insults I have seen on this forum. Well done! It is possible to be rude to people without resorting to bad language!

Thank you.
Massey 765 is very lucky and privileged in that he is a very good friend of mine. He is generally so with most folk, genial, good natured and helpful........having said that and in the light of his initial comment, then he should still consider himself extremely lightly done by! Oscar Wilde was a master of the art. (Hunting - The unspeakable in persuit of the uneatable.......If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they’ll kill you!)

A proper insult needs not to be outwardly rude. It should be polite, wide ranging and all encompassing. it should leave the recipient not entirely sure but humoured with plenty to think about.

The ultimate though is the friendly backhanded compliment! Just Joking. Massey 765 is a top guy, which nowadays is a great indictment. By and large people are far far too rude, I can be the worlds worst when provoked, possibly having mellowed with age. Never underestimate the power of the written word.

Hardly. People after summit need to persue golden riches, fatted calves, milk and honey. Not those of similar broken straightened circumstances as ones self, which can only be vindictive and malevolent at best.

As Oscar once said. ‘Some people cause happiness wherever they go, others whenever they go’. Bit similar to what some people have over their door. ‘ Everyone who passes through this door brings happiness to this house. Some by entering, some by leaving’
