When I was young a chap in our village called Fred Campling had a large collection of David Browns . I remember him having them all lined up down the driveway to his yard one summer .

Thats the man!! Back in the 1970's he had, I think, every model made up to that point.

Do you know what became of him and his collection?

He still lives in the village but sold his collection years ago . Fred must be 90ish but he still goes out Norfolk on his beet harvester every year and still carts his own wheat in to the local store on his magnum and huge Bailey trailer .

Brilliant! David Brown did a film of him, showing off all his tractors, I'm sure he was front page of DB Tractor News once, too! :)

That would have been in the era of silent films I hope, sound would have made it a horror movie.

PS Emyr I have here an old DB tractor brochure for you. I tried dumping it at the tip in Rhyl, but these days they are understandably very choosy about what they take.

Give me a ring next week and you can call and collect it. Better hitch up the trailer first and bring your wallet with you. I can unload it with the JCB and lower it into my vault for safe keeping while you have a cup of tea. Don’t forget to bring the flask!
