Davey and Lib Dems and co will campaign to take us back into Europe to be ruled by Ursula and Macron. So don't think they stand a chance at a GE.
Ha ha a week is a long time in politics. We can already see the tide has changed in farming circles how the tide has changed. Among my farming friends 5 years ago I believe at least 60/40 were in favour of Brexit, now I think that reality has hit home and the position is probably near the reverse. They probably d not say it in front of other possibly former Brexiteers, but a lot have said to me privately that I was right..
I do not believe it is right to actively campaign for a return, mainly because I think the French are going to need at least another 20 years to let us back😂

As a voter in the north shrops constituency , I was annoyed that the conservatives thought we’d be happy with a candidate bussed in from Birmingham . At least Helen Morgan is local and worked as an accountant for a local firm .
Add in the Boris/ xmas parties / Patterson effect, then it’s no wonder we changed sides .
If she works hard as a constituency MP, then she may hang on in a general election.

Just on this, the Lib Dem policy seems to be (currently) best be described as close alignment with a long term ambition to re-join. But no simple reversal of Brexit.

Which, in my opinion, is the most common sense policy given the close proximity, huge trade volumes and already existing close alignment.

I think it is more the expectation that overnight a vast swathe of rules and regulations would cease, or certainly decrease. Whereas the reality is not just fresh ones but the prospect that in the wings is a very strong green and animal rights driven agenda.

If you haven't worked it out yet - it makes no difference.

Basically it's not those coming from France who are affecting people's lives it's those coming from Eton.

The fact is we don't have a democracy and power is ultimately exercised by the elites and corporations; politicians are just pawns in the game.

Most policy is made up on the hoof and is more about getting good feedback in YouGov polls than carefull long term planning and strategy.

Countries like China plan 40 or 50 years ahead laying out a vision (like the Belt and Road project which was adopted in 2013 with a completion date of 2049) meanwhile we spiral into economic oblivion with a society sat on their sofas, watching Netflix (and the propaganda) and our economic activity is mostly based around internet shopping and a chain of coffee shops.

Sometimes I just want to shake people by the scruff of the neck and shout 'wake up' but I think the lamentable response to Covid ( a disease which 99.9% of people naturally survive) has shown that it would be pointless. They are already zombies.
I dont often agree with you but it's hard to argue with that post, the difference is the Chinese dont have to keep voters happy so can plan long term, they also don't pander to fringe groups

Not quite sure what you are saying, it appears you believe a fascist one party state like China is good, then you say our response to Covid was lamentable?
Would you have preferred to have been locked down as the Chinese cities are undergoing , with absolutely no body allowed out for weeks on end on pain of extreme penalties? Or perhaps to be treated like the Uighurs with re education in concentration camps.
No I think I will take bumbling baffled Boris anyday

They expected to stay in the single market and keep freedom of movement ….etc
Expect it was made plain by the leaflet sent out by the government that the are incompatible, it's just so easy for remainers to claim different but they need to look in the mirror for the real reason
