Shropshire by Election

A massive congratulations to to Helen Morgan Lib Dems for winning the North Shropshire by Election. Overturning a massive 23000 vote majority and then winning by 5 thousand votes is a thumping victory. If this is not a wake up call to the tories, I don't know what is.
This tory government is shameful and a disgrace. Watching the cabinet ministers at work is like watching the muppet show on stage.

They have no integrity, no morals, total disrespect to the British people in there behaviour.

Protest vote wasnt it?! Labour were trounced after saying they were in a two way fight🤣
Time will tell. Its one hell of a strong protest vote if so.

If Helen Morgan does a good job then hopefully Shropshire will show there gratitude but voting her back in. Can't see why anyone would vote Tory or Labour as things are. Its laughable to see such an incompetent bunch of muppets.

Not sure who should be feeling most ashamed and embarrassed, Conservatives for loosing a seat in which a donkey wearing a blue ribbon would normaly expect to win or Labours utter inability to attract voters against what was effectively a donkey wearing a blue ribbon standing waste deep in a pool of political shyt

Its in her own hands now but Ed davey is a complete swarmy muppet so its not going to be easy. Boris is under pressure but i still fail to see any other politician taking over and being able to do any better in a queer ole time for the country and world. I think anybody thinking that getting rid of boris and his wife will see a relaxing in ideas like hers is living in a dream tbh.

In our first past the post system one votes Tory or Labour, not to put one party in power but to keep the other out of power!! By and large, any other tick is a waste of time and ink.

I’m a bit sick of the green wash from the top but that’s hardly likely to decrease with the Lib Dems is it?
Covid? Well I can’t really fault Boris. Treading a tightrope between wrecking the economy and thousands dying needlessly. Not an easy job.
Muck spreading ban needs lifting though maybe with conditions. That’s a watershed for me.

Brexit is over as the main political driving force behind voting. Issues like management of the pandemic, making rules but not following themselves and (in rural constituencies) changing farm subsidies are more important.

Boris clearly has never had much vision of what he wanted to do as Prime Minister, and his style of just promising all things to all people can't last forever as a tactic.

If you haven't worked it out yet - it makes no difference.

Basically it's not those coming from France who are affecting people's lives it's those coming from Eton.

The fact is we don't have a democracy and power is ultimately exercised by the elites and corporations; politicians are just pawns in the game.

Most policy is made up on the hoof and is more about getting good feedback in YouGov polls than carefull long term planning and strategy.

Countries like China plan 40 or 50 years ahead laying out a vision (like the Belt and Road project which was adopted in 2013 with a completion date of 2049) meanwhile we spiral into economic oblivion with a society sat on their sofas, watching Netflix (and the propaganda) and our economic activity is mostly based around internet shopping and a chain of coffee shops.

Sometimes I just want to shake people by the scruff of the neck and shout 'wake up' but I think the lamentable response to Covid ( a disease which 99.9% of people naturally survive) has shown that it would be pointless. They are already zombies.

Analysis shows a small increase in votes for Lib Dems and Labour but overall it looks like disgruntled Tory voters just didn't turn out. Couldn't bring themselves to vote for disfunctional Labour or a party with almost no representation in parliament. Tories need fresh leadership to get out of Boris quagmire. There are no obvious leaders in any of the parties?

It’s Messrs Juniper and Goldsmith that need rooting out. Get some pragmatists back on the team and they could pull it round. John Redwood is spot on. Listen to the farmers, produce food here, and ditch the high tax, high spending approach.👍 All is not lost, but it will be if they don’t listen soon. Jeremy Hunt is only credible replacement for Boris. But not sure that time has come yet.

The result shows a massive win for the Lib Dems. You cant glaze it in any other way. Tories have had a long time in government and what have they done in this time. Brexit has been a complete hash. Disastrous trade deals, scandal after scandal, back handers and lies. List goes on. You can't defend these actions.

So you’d rather have the Chinese response to covid would you? Snatching people off the streets who they think are infected. Draconian lockdowns and travel restrictions.
I agree about the over reliance on the service economy though.

Brexit is done, Boris is mission complete, move aside, he’s just ballsing everything up hanging around.
