Shut the effin pubs

A small pub in the local town was raided by the police and found the pub empty but the tiny beer garden full of 100 drinkers !
I had seen youngsters heading into the town centre , at a similar time ,when waiting for my fish and chips !
As said ,its happening everywhere to a degree - it does make you wonder if the people running those pubs will have any comeback ?
As to if pubs will survive much? I am fearful that along with a lot more of the High Street ,a lot will be heading into oblivion ,because surviving on a third of the custom with possibly more overheads or whatever, isnt going to be doable is it?
My daughter works in care and has just had the antibody test and that was neg

The daily death rate has been lower than the 5 year average for weeks now!....

A couple of weeks ago I heard a BBC radio news bulletin report the fact that the total weekly deaths were lower than the 5 year average, the story was dropped by the next report an hour later, obviously didn't fit in with their agenda or media hype surrounding this whole thing.

I had the test last Friday; had been rough for a few days, hacking dry cough and dry throat. Went on line, booked and tested within 6 hours. The guy who handed me the kit were adamant I carried out the test properly, wiped the cotton bid for 10/15 seconds either side of my tonsils and then up my nose the same, He was so determined to emphasise the need to do it right that I asked him why, his response was rubbing the bud inside the cheek was not good enough, and despite how unpleasant (makes you gag) taking the same from the tonsils was, it was crucial to ensure an accurate test. He said he was worried a lot of negative results were simply bad tests rather than accurate results. I ensured mine was thorough - it was thankfully clear but it does make me wonder.

Why are you thankful it was clear? Do you have vulnerable close relatives you can't avoid?
Thankful I don't have a virus thats killed two local farmers, on top of that Im glad that Im not a risk to those who are at risk, even so I will keep my distance where possible. I am (after talking to the testers) slightly sceptical as to the results, despite being confident I followed the instructions. I fear this winter is going to be a long one, I just wish we had acted more decisively at the start. I know of one farmer (57) who probably would still be here if Cheltenham was cancelled.

And that is why things appear to be going backwards. Kids nowadays don't seem to like their parents/gparents anymore. Inheritance tactic in the light of no jobs to go to?

Tbf I think most 18 year olds of every generation dont seem to like there parents, it's just more noticeable now compared to a century ago due to increased age of living.

Pubs aren’t the issue. Folks who want to go into pubs now, whilst leaving care, common sense, civic duty, and social distance etiquette outside the door, will quite simply carry on in the same manner, somewhere else if the pubs are shut. Crowd in a pub is no different than a crown at in house party!
Both are breeding grounds for Covid.

Personally, if I had cold-like symptoms, and was handling it ok, then I'd be pretty delighted with a positive test. The sooner we accept that this is probably going to be with us forever, and that we need to develop at least some low level and/or short term immunity to it, the sooner society will get around to functioning again. I think you are going to see higher mortality rates for years as a result of delayed medical diagnosis and intervention in the usual diseases in 2020.

Best bet is vaccines, every infection is a spin on the mutation roulette wheel.

Pubs might reclose. 3

If I was 96 I’d be down the pub living it large as I’m going to die shortly anyway. You really do wonder what life is all about. Sitting worrying yourself to death or going out and getting a dose?
I think that eventually most of the eighty plus age group will think the same ! Whats the point of hiding under a rock if you are destined to shuffle off early anyway

Does the Tory government have a thing about Beauticians? They are closed by government Covid decree. But Barbers and hairdressers are allowed open. What is the difference. Did Bojo or Gove have a bad waxing sometime and this is their revenge. So those businesses are legally enforced closure and now have to start picking up costs as furlough unwinds - so less government support.
