Vet, PDQ!

She'll tell you if it's a snake bite (least likely given your location :) ), wasp sting, wooden tongue, ting, or something else.

Hope the heifer comes through whatever it is with the calf still well.

value of hfr, to cost of vet, also, as we have rudely found, cheaper, less hassle, a phone call to the vet, can be very cheap ! Any animal, not reacting to treatment, after 48 hrs, should be consulted, via phone call, with vet. Don't forget, what we, as farmers, think is all right, and probably is, is not the opinion of many others, who are only to quick, to ring the RSPCA, or the min vets.

Had vet out recently with a cow thought she had tetany I suggested to the vet would it do any harm to put a bottle of magnesium into her she nearly ate me I said nothing to her for the rest of her visit and she had to put the magnesium in the cow anyway and she walk ed of and I walked away and away she went back to the practice so sometimes I rather ask questions on here lots of experience on line

that shouldn't happen, your vet, is employed, by you, to do a job. But, what i am saying, is different, if you have rung the vet, and discussed the 'case', you have covered yourself, there is little chance, of any welfare complaint, getting anywhere, legally, you are 'clean', no comeback !! With the extra walkers, around, brimming with enthusiasm, and they see, what they perceive, a welfare issue, whether right or wrong, and with camera's on mobiles, you can get yourself into some deep, nasty shite, with what, we think, is 'normal', and acceptable. Always remember, a photo, can easily be taken, to make the situation look, an awful lot worse, than it really is. And, is the ONLY record, on a 'visit', by any, investigator, to the 'incident'. That phone call, basically means, you are innocent, in the laws eye.
