We are looking for a side flail mower for doing field edges and one pass in the ditch, it would be handy if it could work behind the tractor as well. What do you recommend or avoid, anything to look for or be aware of?

Kuhn make the best mower for brinks and dyke sides . Don’t go to wide , 2.2m is plenty wide enough or you end up dragging it along the ditch bottom and bending things . Kuhn tilt ram is only single acting so can’t be forced down on the ground which also adds A lot of stress .

I have a smi 220 that was bought from a. Member on here and that’s a bit of an animal. Will mulch through 3” black thorn when siding hedges as well as doing verges, banks etc

The alpego ones look good as well, then there is Kuhn etc

I would probably go left hand side option for doing verges when I replace it as it can be a pain going the opposite to traffic

Have used different brands over the years and they all do a job but nothing goes as well or is built as well as a Muthing. The importer knows his product inside out if you need to know anything.

I’ve sold a few Kverneland ones, cracking machines, they do a model called a ‘plus’ which has more offset, but as above , don’t go too wide, they are heavy all the way out!!

SMI here been fine. PTO guards don’t last long but think that is a machine problem rather than make. They are so long with a large overlap they grab when telescoping.

Used to sell Kuhn ones, never had any complaints. I think muthing may be better are priced accordingly rightly so. Depends how much you intend to do? Agroforestry strips next?

Have you looked into the Razorback Range they offer an offset verge mower. Its the RD220 DS. If you give them a call I'm sure they would be happy to help.

So what’s your name when he calls you? May as well put a phone number up while you’re at it. 🧐

Has anyone experience of the TMC Cancela? Happy with our SMI but they look a better machine.

When you say "siding hedges" do you mean using it vertically on the hedge?
