side mounted bale elevator

I remember one mounted on the tractor ,which could lift the bales with a single chain which slide the bale up the elevator to the trailer. then when you reached the shed the tractor was driven nose first against the stack and the elevator was used in reverse to load from the trailer onto the stack. Can't remember the name though.

Used to be something like this on side of a trailer, possibly linked to the axle.

I remember the previous alternative, 2 men with a fork throwing 6 rows high, up to 3 trailers and plenty of casual labour moving thousands of bales. Those were the days?
Now just me and a tractor

We tried a lely and lister in the field, but they were much slower than two men with pitchforks, so they were used in the rickyard.

Anyone remember the air bagger's on the lorry bodies, to lift the grains sack from the field onto the truck?

Yes

Remember double de-clutching? "Running in" new engines. Getting your licence through Grandfather rights. Milk churns. Riveting new sections onto the mower knife
I remember all that, but I can't remember getting old!
