Heck up here the farmers expect you to cut into the corners then rake man has to rake grass out from corners
same as teliwag poles etc mow right round them then rake driver has to pull it away unless mower throws it out when you drive round it in a circle
Must be a little hungry er up here lol
But agree roller should not be there
but as above better than chain harrows push bikes etc etc
You do get too now the farms that needs 1-2 mt left on outside as never stone pick or roll fields but some are very good never need replace a blade then get ten blades in 10-15 acre we just charge them more

I've known farmers complain the mower man hasn't left his guards folded up so you can get closer to the fence! Then they plant wholecrop so close to the fence the forager is playing Russian roulette trying to cut the headland.

When I was contracting we had a customer who complained about the strip up to fence. Next time my driver kept guard folded up. Then we got the complaint that each post had been clipped by blades as he was too close !

On average i reckon there would be an extra 4 bales per 10 acre field if the mower men took the time to cut tight to hedges/fences.
Wouldn't be far away, we sold a 13ac field of standing grass a few years ago, a week or two after it was cut and I was cutting my own silage I done a lap of the filed wit our 5.5ft mower and had to take a few swipes out of the corners too and rowed it all up, 4 bales wer dropped out around the field. I wasn't out to get every blade of grass either, just cut into the corners as I normally would wit me wee mower!
