This year with Arla advocating a 5 cut forage plan thought it would be interesting to see and compare silage analysis' to see the potential benefits etc. Only one pit here so two cuts done, first done on 1 June, little rain on first 20 acre next day 120 got good. Additive used.

I normally send a sample to an independent lab at the same time as our feed company take it and usually there is quite a difference. I would say your me and d value are too low compared to your ndf figures, probably worth retesting in my opinion @coomoo

Too dry for my liking, not properly fermented, hoping i was a bit quick taking the sample (2.5 weeks).

2nd cut taken 36 days after 1st, no analysis yet would have liked it a week earlier but there was no chance.

We are aiming for 27% DM here. Feeds so much better and get greater DM intakes. This year the greatest challenge has been not getting it too dry, needed to cut and row up straight behind the mower to achieve it.

DM 27.6
CP 12.8
D value 75.8

Intake 109.3

DM 31.5
CP 11.2
D value 74.0
ME 11.8
pH 3.9
Intake 107.5

We havn't sampled ours yet but cut on 21/04, 22/05 and 3rd cut on 22/06 predominately PRG leys so pretty hopeful of some quality stuff each cut was taken during days of hot sun and additive added.

Cut 9th-14th May, 2nd cut done 10 days ago. Did it with our own gear this year after a bit of a disaster with a contractor last year (breakdowns/late getting here/grass on floor for 3 days). Had one clamp done by them, 1000 tonnes of 1st cut of

DM 58.2
CP 11.7
D value 60.8
ME 9.7
pH 4.6

It was quite an expensive winter once we had finished the good stuff we had made in the other clamp!!!
