We have laid a silage pit and every 6m cut 25mm wide x 30mm deep expansion joints what type of sealer would you use??
i would would have thought of tar based bitumen type sealer, also mastic type sealer but this is quite pricey.

thanks

Probably not quite that wide nearer 15mm. but was told make it wide enough otherwise it's difficult to get any in there. Know any tar suppliers?
At 15mm wide I'd just use Sikaflex Pro3, either self levelling or standard.

How many lineal metres do you need to do?

By the time you've hired your bitumen burner and faffed around, you'd be done with the Sikaflex. Probably not a lot in it cost wise depending on the meterage.

500m got a bit carried away made into 6m squares. Recon 400kg bitumen will do it. After putting silage away in our other pit today which looks like crazy paving after 6 years. I happy to do a better job at getting it right.
Ill have a look at the silcaflex thanks

Some fag packet maths, to compare against bitumen....

15mm wide x 30mm deep works out to be 450 cm3 per metre. So 500 metres would be about 375 sausages (600ml per sausage) of Sikaflex. I’d say your probably looking at around £1300 odd for the Sikafex and then hire a couple of cordless guns to apply it with.
