you win some you lose some , 45acre field of wheat straw split into 3 not a big straw yield 1.4t/acre ish, one 1/3 sold in swath longstanding customer sold june at x£/4ft round, customer bales and carts working out just over £50/acre next 1/3 sold as baled 4ft rounds delivered and stacked by us tractor trailer £112/acre , last 3rd half stacked 4ft 6 rounds reckon they will have to be above £17.5 out of the stack to match later in winter or rebale as little squares as last 1/6th baled as little bales currently selling to horse folk at £2.50 each adds up so reckon we are just about £110/ acre for this particular field . Seems little bales are the future but dont think others here will go with that plan unless we get a lot more mechanized but there is potential , we still have 40 acres to bale will suggest it and see what reaction I get !!

Plenty coming across already , most of what's left to harvest here is pretty much either flat or still green as leeks so not gonna get any cheaper now. I got two loads of 8x4x4s today from Wexford, £45 a bale.
How much would haulage be from here to you.
If it's £60/bale now what will it be next March?

been selling between 10 and 60 at a time for 3.50 for last few years so was wondering if £4 was feasable as the summer we had. im on the wrexham chester border plenty of horsey folk about

£5 if singles or if delivered local ,if well made good quality but there is always someone who sells for less but usually its poorer quality and lighter bales ,its all about educating your market

£3 a bale is bottom end of the market here this year. Not much about, all them who sell the odd 100 bales at £2 a bale are not on Facebook this year. Today I have done 5 Ifor trailer loads out at £3 but I know it isn't great stuff so want it gone now before it turns to dust. When I have got rid of all I have I will buy in in bigger bales and re-bale to conventionals, or at least that is the plan.

All I think as happened is that there is a lot of smashed black rubbish been bailed on the guise that 'straw is short' 'we will run out' , we never ran out last year even after a strong export to the continent and Ireland so why would we this year.
