Well there is no way I'm selling hay for less than straw!
Have you got hay that can be sold cheap enough for bedding @Forage Trader ?

selling for around 68 delivered but not a lot left now . it made my eyes sore looking at it for the last 2 years in the shed .will have a party when its gone

Merchant offered us £70 for good barley straw in hesstons. East Yorkshire.

Is that the price, or is he trying it on? Seems a bit low to me.

Don't know your area well but down here that would be scandalous. Wheat straw making £100/T ex farm and we're only at the start of winter.

Obviously location is everything. Would cost say £25/t to deliver to Skipton area from here, so that would make it £95 on customer's farm.

Think I'll be asking around before selling to that merchant!

Sounds like a lot of grassland would do better ploughed up for some cereals that produce plenty of straw. However is this short supply just a blip or are the power stations etc altering the market permanently I wonder.

I have some nice permanent pasture hay here, very well made baled 17th June and 2nd cut baled in the brief heatwave 27th August. Chap who bought it last year keen again, but I'm not sure of price. Bales are 80x70cm 7'6". What's a fair price in the current market?

Nice haledge made £20 a bale at local farm sale on Saturday (rounds)

we could be paying the price now for Straw being to cheap in the past . Dutch have consistently paid £10 ton more so a lot was lost over the water along with power station contacts
