STRAW TRADE COLLAPSE'S ...

Many lots were unsold and some lots of Wheat were bid to £75t and unsold.....

Been a lot of hype about straw prices recently, quite clear the bubble has burst!

Dealers are quoting £140t delivered in for Barley straw, today about the only lot of Barley sold was £120t with the other loads unsold......

I wouldn't say collapsed rather there wasn't much trade
buyers obviously didn't think it was worth as much as the sellers wanted for it
who will come unstuck remains to be seen

When you have an auction and you don't get anywhere near the reserves and even when you do get bids and they are only £75t when everyone else is in the media/online is quoting £100t+ then trade has collapsed.

If it was a fast/ mental trade as some predicted it would be then prices would have been far higher than the reserves set and all lots would have been sold.

( talking about straw here )

Will we see straw lorries heading back up the M5 in the other direction ?:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
it didn't seem a mad clamour to buy, bids were slow, auctioneer was working hard, hardly a fast trade with farmers wanting to go home with something to bed their animals with
as I said time will tell
as I said on another thread I wonder if there is enough to go round if it was all in the hands of those that need it ? I wouldn't like to say

I think it will all depend on the winter, if it comes in wet and everything has to be housed demand will be different to if we have a winter like last and folk can keep things out
a month ago all i heard was panic on the phone will we get our straw .one way or another farmers are making do unless they really need straw .panic has died down In this are anyhow
