If the price has steadied a bit, maybe the Irish lads will be in for it rather than importing from Spain.
I suspect people have bought what they need to see them over Xmas and into the new year. It’ll depend on how harsh the winter is from then on.
Still being asked for it here and offered £80 wheat, £90 for barley ex farm, which is fine here.

Reminds me a bit like a farmer round here a few years ago.....when wheat was rising he said “I’m not selling a single flake till it hits £200”
It got to £199 and collapsed :ROFLMAO:

Same year I offered a well known and recently deceased farmer up your way £180/ton for some spare barley he had about Christmas time. He turned me down then rang me in late July desperate to move it to make room for new crop. I gave him £85/ton. To be fair he took it on the chin and never said a thing well not to me anyway.....

Yes you can be too greedy

Adding to what @gone up the hill and @Henarar said about Sedge sale. First lot was 220 well made 4 string June hay made £14/ bale. I dont need any but bought 50 round hay close to home at £6 for every other day bedding as insurance. i would say trade has been so hyped up buyers had already decided not to bother. But it's only November...

surely if you put it through an auction you will get paid as thats why commission is charged ,we have occassionally put a load up and never had any issues, we have occassionally done that with a spare load or 2
Would need checking out as at a farm sale don't think your guaranteed payment if auctioneers don't get paid in market rules different but not sure on hat and straw

So whats an average year? £70 /t barley? So lets knock £50/t off that for this years hypermarket and £30 haulage so they owe you £10/t
Now sell that to the arable guys?
buyer and seller need to agree what's a fair price off the field and out of the shed . will that ever happen .I don't have a clue . I would suggest 48 to 50 and 55 to 65 . but who knows

well you can't get much more open than at auction, hardly turning up at night with a trailer and a torch is it ?
the reserves in the main were more than folk would pay
time will tell
Any idea what reserves were?
Sounds like I should have come up - being quoted £115 barley delivered in.

Don’t tell me the merchants aren’t cashing in with bigger margins!
Maybe if farmers just dealt directly with other farmers and cut out the middle man;)

I think from what im told some of the biggest merchants ( and the ones talking the trade up to very high levels ) are trying to buy it very cheap off farm ( ie £60t ) and sell it for £120/30/40t delivered in......

So yes they are trying to profit at both ends and its costing both buyers and sellers.
