barley straw was down again in the Auction Today near Wantage .wheat was a fair trade but they aint as keen as they were a Month ago
Was told £35 a quad ?

£33 still dear but £35 a week ago in St Ives and £36 in Stow so going in the right direction 4 string failed to sell at reserve

Making a bit more than that here at the moment but the weather is shocking, far too damp/dull days, we are using more straw now than a month ago, but give it a few dry sunny days and it will be a different story.

Yea some of them are now actually putting straw in fodder sales.............
There is a lot of straw about as vendors think the prices will go even higher, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the weather change the middle of Feb and come dry for 2/3 months, then by mid March people will be turning cattle out and straw demand will fall off a cliff.
