A dry week and they won’t be
we have grass but it rained heavy yesterday and more on sunday I think, the ground is still quite wet, could do with getting some out though even if its only a dozen to ease the pressure in the sheds, the cows are getting restless now and want to go out they can smell the grass, lovely day here today I wish it would bide like this for a month

Missed most of the rain yesterday
I've just put out 15 in drier fields including a couple that have calved and the rest are the closest to calving. They're going to cut the ground a bit but the shed is full to bursting and it'll ease the job.

Hell of a lot of cattle going out around here today/ yesterday!

Everything from small stirks to suckler cows/ calves to very large dairy herds.

Straw trade will defo ease off a shade now.

trying to buy some maize silage to fill my clamp for next winter. It is of average quality ensiled outside and covered well. What would be a ball park price ex farm ?

Do you travel the area every day, as you always seem to know exactly what's going on, from who has turned cattle out, to how many loads of straw are traveling in and out.
Do you farm, or does your job take you all over?

I have chance of some supposedly okish Haylage 2 year old this time. I hopefully won’t need any till back end. £15.00 per bale. I will leave the crap behind though as the tops look to have had some crows!! Would you bother or is it coming out of the woodwork now? Lot more advertised this last week I thought but could all be gone. I don’t think I am going to have Much to cut this year and this winter has learnt me the lesson that it may not always be out there to buy and I am trying to plan ahead!
