For all those who have asked for a quote in Devon, i am not in a position to do any atm .we are rushed of our feet up here mainly on hay just starting on straw . If things change i will let know . We are still taking orders for sawdust down there and looking for all sorts of pit silage as return loads

On 14 June 2018 the Commission, the Parliament and the Council reached a political agreement which includes a binding renewable energy target for the EU for 2030 of 32%, with a clause for an upwards revision by 2023

You don't have to take any orders for devon, but I am guessing some are seeking your guidance regarding where to pitch their straw price. So you work out what your straw costs + haulage + profit, and that's the ceiling price for devon straw. I guess that you don't want to post up a price because it won't be in the 80's/t as you suggested before..... probably more like 110-120/t

Same old story!
You won't get a confirmed price off of a straw dealer until it's delivered and packed in your shed! Then they know what the price is !

I have just baled my barley straw, bought it direct for £100 acre in the swath.
Worked out to cost me £49 a ton, + my own baling and hauling expenses on top.
Everybody's happy, and no bullshite in the middle of the purchase (y)

My advice is dont take delivery if straw unless the supplier will give you a price, be wise to other merchants selling price and if its a lot out tell him hes to dear .that way you will stop these who think they can pay what they like

I never insulted you, but equally when standing straw auctions are £100-240/ac, straw delivered in is not going to be in the £80's. Straight numbers without the angst would be ideal, then everyone knows where the market is, no talking up or down :)

Well all I know is that in Cornwall now roundbale haylage is being sold at £35 ex farm.

Devon its making around £25 bale.

From what many dairy farmers are saying it sounds like if we don't get some prolonged rain to get grazing 2/nd 3rd cuts growing then many of them will run out of silage before Xmas!

I never said you did
I gave you straight numbers . 55 to 60 loaded you had one of the biggest straw men in the country on here to verrify this . If you want to be generous put £40 ton on that for haulage . I have no idea what price it will be ib a weeks time the price runners are hard at work
