So are those people that paid good money at auctions aren't as thick as you claimed they were on here the other day then......................................

Saying in your defence like you have been doing that a week is a long time in the forage world is a complete and utter cop out and a complete nonsense.
Not you as well.

Your getting boring now .

The price has dropped nearly £40 ton in 3 weeks .
Plenty about get it bought . Is that clear enough

Wait a min .has the price not dropped is there not plenty about . Forgive me but just what part of that did I get wrong . The on the spot loading price for wheat is 50 to 65 . Guys two weeks ago where asking 80 to 90 .
I A
am now saying with the price as it is get it bought . I have never said things will stay the same so to be frank I dont know what your going on about

Love to know where there loading wagons up at that as I know plenty farmers who would fill there yards up at that price! Loading price in the field is £75-80 here and there ain’t much left to load now anyways! The price has dropped a couple of quid due to the season having a bit more straw than predicted... once the baling has stopped and it’s coming out of peoples yards it’ll be back up again well beyond last years prices which you said it would never reach... for once accept you were wrong and get back in your box ...

sure you just try to run the job down to try and convince people to sell you straw cheaper so you can sell it on to some poor struggling dairy farmer who youv already said you think is an idiot...

I dont know where you are loading . But no dealer I know is paying anywhere near that for wheat . Or are you talking barley which is holding it's price better.
And where have I called dairy farms idiots .it don't make any sense what you say . Your the one who's trying to keep the price up .Is that somehow supposed to help a dairy farmer
Best we leave it at that we both seem to be on another planet

Think I'm pack up trading and send it all there

Not in so many words but basically saying farmers are idiots for paying the prices....

Leek market Tuesday wheat straw sold for £94T and barley £134T

I’m Staffordshire, lots of wagons heading into wales and Cumbria at £75-80 off the field... thousands of tons of straw all going to carrots so dairy farmers round here have to pay...

Is that wheat or barley you don't say were they are loading
To be honest I am lost in all this. The current loading price on wheat thst I hear is £60 bit either way . Midlands Kent Essex M4 . If you choose to pay you suppliers more then that's your business

You need to make your mind up..

On this thread TONIGHT you are saying straw is short and is going to get expensive in days......

...........................................

On another thread on TFF at 6.55 am THIS MORN you posted that there is loads of straw and the price is in freefall.......

Sounds like you are trying to talk your buying price down whilst talking up your selling price:whistle::whistle:

Might be an idea to read what he is saying.

I will summarise for you:
A. There is lots of straw available that can be loaded for £ 60ish so SUPPLY is presently high.
B. There may be a shortage in Europe and higher livestock use in UK later on so DEMAND may increase.
C. Therefore forage trader thinks you should fill your sheds now.

I know a lot of livestock farmers read these pages without comenting for guidance
For the moment there is an abundance of straw so no need for anyone to panic

B : He stated in this very thread tonight that buyers from other EU country's ( Denmark in particular I recall ) have swamped the UK the last few days and are sweeping across the UK buying up all the straw in their paths and that straw will get very short and expensive ....

Yet on another thread this morn and this one tonight since he posted the above he is claiming that there is loads of straw about and its getting cheaper by the minute.

Complete nonsense that one minute he is talking the price into the ground and the next minute talking it upto highs never seen before!

Its either one or the other but cannot be both in the same breath...............

My opinion is this for what it’s worth:
Never has so much straw been baled in the UK but demand will obviously be high from home and abroad. Will demand outstrip supply? Dunno!

Ok for the last time
The Dutchman Europe are after straw I've been told this by some one who is in the know today
There is an abundance of straw atm so their effect on the market will have little effect on the price short term . A lot of off the opinion it may fall a little further

We have no idea how much Europe will take but with the price as it is which is good value if i had a lot of livestock I would be taking straw in now if they can afford to do so

I thought I said that the Dutch have the ability to move across the country like they have in the past but that would take time it's not going to happen overnight

That's just my advice I'm sure their is plenty that would advice differently so just take it as that
As for price I have no desire to see the price drop any more as farmers like Hatch deserve a fair price for their product .But like everyone the price they recieve is out of my control

Can we now leave it please I have no wish to argue any more

But not so long back your advice was you can buy it in on a wagon cheaper don’t worry about it ... eat some humble pie and admit you’ve been talking the price down when really you knew the situation was worse than you’ve been making out ...

yes more straw has been baled than ever but there’s also more burners than ever, more carrot farms needing it than ever, less silage than ever so will need more straw for dry cows/ calves/ low yielders than ever, the sheds are emptier than ever after last years long winter....

Finished throwing my 2 pence in good day.
