Looking for about 30 big bales of hay as now completely run out. Don't think there is anything left locally. What are options? Failing that will feed straw with concentrates instead.

There's plenty at my yard if you can get someone to pick them up, is there many Ayrshire cows up there now, old friend of mine now dead used to run up there and bring a lorry load down evry week, those cows were the finest looking cattle I have ever seen
Still some good Ayrshire cattle in this area. Alas our own Ayrshire herd was crossed out to make way for Holsteins many years ago and we now only have a handful of Ayrshires. Will have a phone around this afternoon.

Waiting on our local straw guy phoning back as he supplies my husband who is due another load of straw. Recently everyone that orders a load has been rationed to half a load. Spoke to a friend yesterday who was doing the same and has feeding straw coming in at £109/t delivered.

Demand for horse haylage picking up & some has left here for Oldham & some going to Meltham near Huddersfield. £30 locally for very firm, dry 4 foot round bales, charged merchant a bit less who is transporting our surplus.

No demand for poorer stuff though. To be fair only suitable for sucklers or poor sort store cattle, two samples of that £10 for the poor & £20 for some drier material (some mould or would do for horses). Suckler cow men are tight, know one who beds his cattle with stable muck. 30 horses at the stable producing the bedding for 160 suckler cows. Tight git, my £10 bales too dear for him, wanted to fetch my poorer bales of straw from bay bottoms for nowt, told him to "Beggar off".
