50 or so 4 stringers of hay for sale in Oxfordshire - cut off a new ley this year and dry stored. think they are slightly short of 8 foot

what sort of value have they can anyone say? thinking of putting them in an auction.

550kg six string hay bales are minimum £100 a bale retail in order to
cover the costs delivered in and the storage/ risk factor.

Have heard that round bale haylage is being bought up at £40 a bale by merchant hauliers in the North West Midlands/ North Wales area, who then obviously need a selling margin on top: apparently they will take as much as they can be offered. Can anyone confirm this?

From what we’ve found as resellers is that I was more worried about running short of bales in Oct/nov. I’m far less worried now. Paying approx £35 a round bale for hay and haylage delivered into us. Swansea area.
Been offered far more hay in recently. Turned lots of new customers away in early winter as didn’t think we had enough to get through.

mine are 1st cut of a new ley.

I have been told similar (but mixed with barley self seeded straw) sold for race horse grass @ £50 / bale.

i'm going to ring up a few local horse people but my offer of £20 a bale can do one!
