What's the thoughts on what's going to happen to hay price this coming year?

Lots of places seem cleaned out already. The price it is near me, bales could be going out the field at ridiculous prices, way more than last year, particularly to the horse market.

All before we even see what March brings.

If its a normal year weatherwise straw and hay will be less money, straw more so than hay but it will all be less money. There will be plenty left over from this winter if the weather stays like it is too, the sale report above tells a story 50% unsold

The stags online sale in the south west does not seem to be attracting any bids, why? Things really slowing down?

Nothing in that sale really.

GTH have a large sale tomorrow, will be intresting to see what that makes.

Generally thou there is a lot more coming onto the market and I saw 2 dairy herds that have been turned out today which they would never normally do until April at the earliest.

I think every one will be making hay this year and there will be plenty around. Then supply and demand will kick in!
If I remember right everyone made hay last year in perfect conditions.
But you can't make much if it doesn't grow. This year could be very interesting.
Very little fodder to sell round here now. That will be 2 years with virtually no carryover.
