greed, my neighbour has a barn full of s barley and wheat straw, in jan.….. not selling it for that ! it will be worth more later. bet its still in the barn this harvest, comment... it will be worth more next yr! that's greed!

But when I ran out last spring, because of the terrible weather & all my regulars pushing for extra supplies.

I was sworn at & called greedy for selling.

You just can not please customers.

As said earlier, we all have costs & we need to acheive decent prices to have money to cover costs & reinvest.

Surely that’s his prerogative.
We all make mistakes we’ll i certainly do anyway. That straw doesn’t eat or drink a lot where it is he may in the end be proven right a year or even a month in farming is a long time.
 
What price is quite a bit less?
Several merchants quoting £80 delivered, I usually buy all my requirements In the swath so no long term buisness relationship with any of them , lucky dip , picked one and he’s bringing lovely straw.
One did quote £75, rightly or wrongly I was concerned it might not be good enough/was too cheap so went with one of the dearer quotes.

Edit, I put an add up, straw wanted on a hay and straw group on Facebook, the sellers contacted me.

Go on then, purchase cost, bought from somebody I did not know so no favours, deal struck at? Will donate £200 to whoever is closest’s named charity and post receipt. Give it a week.
