I think I might have to give 80 but in reality it's all about future years .
You know your business better than me and i wasnt knocking you but i find grasskeep a pain in the arse. They seem to want more money every year and we become busy fools keeping more stock just to pay higher rents. Add tb ,movements , rpa inspections and im glad i stopped taking any. Mowing grass isnt so bad if you can get £35+/bale for the hay but how longs that going to continue

Think I will leave as you earlier suggested ...no fert big cut in August then hope for a decent growing season after. It's looking more like I will be able to take over the tenancy after end of Oct .

There’s plenty of ground let near to me from April to November to graze or mow or both making around £90 per acre. Old grass needs lime cropping poorly. It doesn’t pay that’s why more often than not the owner just lets it out as they can’t farm it themselves and make as much + sfp - work. Only thing is they know if someone is stuck for space or grass then they will willingly pay more than it’s worth to become unstuck. I’ve been in that boat. The cost of cropping it fert contractors haulage machinery has all gone up

Wouldn't have taken it on only for the reason that I will have the long term let on the ground after for same money but 12 mths of the year with buildings. I could also claim SFP next year but I'm not sure it's worth buying entitlements for . I will look at that more closely next spring.

My father in law just managed to buy some welsh entitlements for £50 each with no vat. He only needed an extra 6.
