FFS, silage in March! The variation within this small country is unreal!shouldn't need to buy anymore bales of silage, cutting today, baling Monday ! But, in this ne wind, our exposed bits of grass are shrinking, son never believed I was right, in saying march winds could soon burn it off ! And I have never cut for silage in march, and a fair cut.
We are often feeding silage in the second part of May. Feeding silage in June sometimes tooFFS, silage in March! The variation within this small country is unreal!
I've fed ewes early May before in a really bad year but feeding silage in June you must have been caught out with being overstocked? We are often feeding silage in the second part of May. Feeding silage in June sometimes too
I have more grass this year in march than i have most years in late april but im a long way from silaging. Stock in early and mild winter has pushed the grass on but frosts lately and cold winds forcast will steady it fairish. I cant believe how quick its dried up, roll wouldnt press some jigged ground down today and local arable fields have dried almost white in colourFFS, silage in March! Nothing grew for a long time in 2013I've fed ewes early May before in a really bad year but feeding silage in June you must have been caught out with being overstocked?
We had a foot of snow then. I remember because it was my daughters 18th and they couldn’t go out at all.Nothing grew for a long time in 2013
Aye couldn't remember the year, didn't keep a farm diary at that point as thought I would remember it all!Nothing grew for a long time in 2013
Just too high up cold east wind kisened grass off turns it blue and refuses to grow. We can get snow in June although it tends not to last for longI've fed ewes early May before in a really bad year but feeding silage in June you must have been caught out with being overstocked?
Reminds me of a story of a farmer up the dale I once heard...he was driving down the dale in the middle of June with a trailer load of hay on...local farmer said to him, you’re early with hay making this yearWe are often feeding silage in the second part of May. Feeding silage in June sometimes too
It might be happening this June yet if it carrys on cold and dry. I have literally never seen it dry up as quick. We will get onto our wettest land with Muck spreader next week normally no chance till May.Reminds me of a story of a farmer up the dale I once heard...he was driving down the dale in the middle of June with a trailer load of hay on...local farmer said to him, you’re early with hay making this year
