So to sum up, at an auction the sellers talked the trade up and buyers talked the trade down, "shock horror" and in a removed post berated someone for having a reserve on their straw and not selling it but in the past have encouraged reserves to be left on pens of livestock. If every price tracker thread on here has posts removed from people posting what other people have told them what they think trade will be going forward then half the posts on this thread/ the beef lamb thread/ the milk price/ grain price/ fert price tracker threads will all have to be removed.....
Yep the dealers were saying all morning straw prices would go to £200 ton after Xmas, then said dealers only bid £112 for delivered straw so yes i think that is very relevant to this thread and should be posted.
And at the same time this morning most buyers were saying that the straw price has reached its peak and will drop after Xmas so again that needs to be reported on here!
Im not talking prices up or down with the above, just saying what the talk/ feeling at the auction was!
I myself actually thought trade would be dearer today for straw and whilst most buyers think prices have reached their peak now in all honesty im not at all convinced that will the case going forwards this winter.
where?Got some 6 string well made July hay for sale off farm .What sort of money ball park should we be looking at. Selling picked up on a lorry. ?
Mid Wales English border.just north of youwhere?
The loads get ran to whatever price it needs to be (even if the auctioneer or winning bidder is a runner) then it’s passed at the ran price giving the impression that it’s worth more than that ( hence being passed) therefore subsequent similar loads are all sold at the high ran passed price. So to sum up, at an auction the sellers talked the trade up and buyers talked the trade down, "shock horror" and in a removed post berated someone for having a reserve on their straw and not selling it but in the past have encouraged reserves to be left on pens of livestock.
