I had my straw bill from my neighbor this week. We've never agreed a price at harvest and I've always just paid what he asks. I was quite relieved when the bill for £65/t came through.

Of course when you've been having straw of that farm for over 40 years , I get preferential treatment

I'm only 36 so you're definitely going to beat me there but I learned to drive stacking bales out there and at Oakenbury so it still feels a long time.

If you want my number, I'll send it on, l'm taking another load to Dartmoor today, ordered at harvest, but farmer could not take this load for some reason, I'm not going to change the price on him now.

You are an honest man. Usually the day the straw arrives is the price on that day. Fair enough in a way.

Does anyone know where to look for average prices for hay and straw delivered to farm north west England each winter period for the last ten years?

Wow" What ever would be the transport costs to get a load to West Wales? as above if it was £57 in 2016 (wheat) did the actual price of the straw rise by £87 in 2018 or did it more reflect an increase in transport costs?
A friend hiring a lorry to get 2 loads from me in January to South Wales 28 bales at a time (8 string Krone last year averaged 550Kg)

Transport cost would have gone up no more than £2/ton over that time . Price reflects a shortfall in supply

Barn stored 2020 wheat straw in 120*90 8 string about 600, last year averaged 550Kg when anyone gets in need.
