any ideas how much straw wants to be in the swath? both wheat and barley ive been offered some wheat but never bought in the swath before normally had it delivered. I was thinking roughly £8 per bale what would you expect per acre in decent looking wheat? I have been told allsorts of figures but 35-40 ish?

I can only get £10/t in the swath, but I'm in Essex and people let it go for that so that's all you get.

I have bailed and stacked some this year and hoping to get closer to £30. I will probably have £10t of costs and losses on that straw though.

Got your figures wrong. You are likely to recieve £8 -£10 per bale for a big hesston (£14 - £18/t) if you sold it in the swath in Essex. If you have baled and chased it yourself and are selling it for £30 you are out of pocket.
